Mikhail's cat, Nadia, was named after Nadia Comăneci, and lives inside the Flame Station with Mikhail. When approaching the station, Sayid made eye contact with the cat, who was peculiarly sitting and staring at him. The cat also shares the name of Sayid's former love Noor Abed Jazeem, who is known as Nadia. The cat clawed and scratched at a rug on the floor, and this alerted Sayid to the possibility that there might be a door in the floor leading underground to expose more of the station. After Locke had detonated the station, the cat survives and once again makes eye contact with Sayid.
