David Shields was Commander Michaela Shields's husband and the father of Jen and Willy. It was soon revealed that he had been having an affair with Greta Boyen, one of the Shields's neighbors but when he attempted to break it off, Greta refused, believing that they were destined to be together and drew a gun, intending to kill the Commander although Commander Shields later shot Greta dead in self-defense.
