During the Ruusan Campaign, which was the climactic series of battles fought near the end of the New Sith Wars, the 1st Squadron was part of the Republic forces backing up Lord Hoth's Army of Light. As fighting took place on Ruusan itself the squadron fought against Sith forces in space, keeping the planetside forces' supply lines open. Like all Marine starfighter units, they were also assigned to carrier duty when the need arose.
