Aiakos is the son of Zeus and Aegina. Aegina was the daughter of a river god. One day Zeus, marvelled by her beauty, kidnapped her and laid with her on an island. Her father was extremely angered, but decided not to go against Zeus. Aegina bore Zeus a son named Aiakos. When Aiakos grew up he had a dream. Since the island he was on had no population,, he prayed to Zeus that this island's population be as numerous as the ants. One by one the ants transformed into humans and Aiakos became the king of these people. The people were called Myrmidons, which mean Ant, in Greek. Achilles was a descendant from Aiakos. When Aiakos died he became one of the three judges in the Underworld, along with Minos and Rhadamanthus.
