Hypertyphoon Marilyn, also known in the Philippines as Typhoon (JMA) Jerome,was the strongest typhoon in recorded history, beating the record of Hyper Typhoon Jose. It was classified as a hypertyphoon by the JMA and JTWC, the second one to do so, after Jose.
