He has spent the majority of his life being shipped from one orphanage or home to another where he was severely mistreated by the staff. Venku is naturally curious and therefore got into a lot of things he shouldn't have, getting him into a lot of trouble. To keep him in his place, Venku was forced to work hard hours, and was abused regularly when he didn't comply.
