The Messenger Service was the official mail system of the Shire which also included the Quick post. They were responsible for the delivery of the mail which helped the Hobbits communicate with each other. The were headed by a Postmaster which was answerable to the Mayor. By the late Third Age, the Messengers were numorous and more busier then ever.
