The Young Musicians Competition 1992 was the fourth annual Young Musicians Competition, and was broadcast on 24th October 1992 from the Heritage Theatre in Dungannon. Of the 166 submissions RTSG received, the judging panel compiled its standard shortlist of 24 entries. When the reference committee met to determine the final ten entries to be performed in the televised event, two entries tied for the tenth qualifying spot. A second vote also returned a tie. A random draw was suggested to determine which entry would qualify, but ultimately the reference committee decided to allow both entries to compete, bringing the total number to eleven.
