An unpopular recruit to the Sun Hill ranks, Inspector Brian Kite kept an eagle eye on his relief. He considered himself the modern face of policing: rule bound, PACE-quoting, politically correct, making all the right moves. But really he was pedantic, officious and uncompassionate.
