Onish has a background in teaching at the elementary school level. Most of her books have been educational and she has written assortment of study packets and activity workbooks for Scholastic, as well as stickerbooks featuring Playskool characters Mr. Potato Head and the Weebles. She also wrote the Mickey Mouse Golden Book Fairy Tale Theatre: Rapunzel.
