Philip I was King of Nicaea and Co-Regent of Constantinople from 1940 to 1958. He succeeded his father Alexios II on both thrones, and was the last member of the main Anemid dynasty to hold both the Nicaean and the Constantiopolitan thrones, as the two were passed down to his son, Alexander, who had founded a new house. He married Sophie Klementine von Habsburg, daugther of Archduke Joseph August of Austria and Augusta of Wittelsbach. He died in 1958, and was succeded by his son Alexander.
