Elin Xerol is a man with a dark and interesting history in intelligence circles. He's known to be a former member of the Inquisitorius and one of the first Inquisitors implemented by Palpatine, but little of his work during that time is documented. When the Empire lost Palpatine and Vader at the Battle of Endor, Xerol gave up his Inquisitor status and assumed a captainship of an Imperial Mark II, renaming the ship, appropriately enough, Inquisitor. Like many of his decisions, he gave no explanation for his willful diminishment of status, but any doubts as to his abilities were soon quieted as he proved to be an effective, if merciless commander. He didn’t kill his subordinates as Vader tended to do, but to his enemies he showed absolutely no leniency.
