A small tailoring outlet in Brooklyn, proprietor Joel Peter Pitkin swiftly fell under the thumb of the Tattaglia family, who provide the majority of his clientele. The influence of the Tattaglias and caporegime Tony Bianchi also meant that a boxing club began in the backroom of Pitkin's store. In 1946, immediately prior to the Five Families War, Aldo Trapani began making moves on Brooklyn and seized Pitkin's Garments for himself.
