Tournel was a Ba'ku male living on the planet Ba'ku in the 24th century. He had dark hair. During the Federation Starfleet mission into the Briar Patch in 2375, he reported to Captain Jean-Luc Picard about the unfixable phase variance in Lieutenant commander Data's positronic brain. He later helped educate Picard on the Ba'ku lifestyle and effect of the Briar Patch's metaphasic radiation. Later, he participated in evacuating the village during a Son'a attack.
