Stephen Dodson Ramseur (May 31, 1837 – October 20, 1864) was one of the youngest Confederate generals in the American Civil War, securing the rank of brigadier general at the age of 25 on November 1, 1862. After a distinguished career, he was mortally wounded and captured at the Battle of Cedar Creek in the Shenandoah Valley on October 19, 1864, and died in Union custody the next day.
