Dr. Isaac "Ike" Anwhistle, brother of Gregor Anwhistle, was a member of V.F.D. and was married to Josephine Anwhistle. He died while on a picnic with his wife, because he insisted on swimming in Lake Lachrymose even though he had just eaten, and was devoured by the Lachrymose Leeches. He only waited 45 minutes before swimming. He thought that was enough (he should have waited 1 hour). In some currently undisclosed way, Ike (and presumably Gregor) is related to Beatrice Baudelaire, as seen by their shared skill in whistling with mouthfuls of crackers.
