Tenrai Masamune (正旨典来 Exact Principle of the Lawful Past) is a Shinigami of quite some age, and currently works as a member of the Central 46's Personal Guard subsequent to the killing of the previous Central 46 by the otherworldly criminal, Sōsuke Aizen. A very experienced Shinigami, who appears to have been affiliated with the Soul Society for an extended period of time; Tenrai has been recognized for his achievements among his fellow companions. Prior to his inclusion within the Gotei 13, Tenrai was a student of the newly established Shin'ō Academy after an alliance with his family and the Kyōraku Clan was made to make both heirs of the families Shinigami.
