The 9th Imperial Special Operations Army (Airborne), colloquially known as the "9th Shock Troops", was one of the twelve Special Operations Armies of the Imperial Army Special Operations Command, Galactic Empire Special Operations Command. Headquartered at the 8th Galactic Empire Special Operations Command on Fondor, it was comprised of approximately one hundred thousand special operators. It was named in honor of the 9th Assault Corps of the former Grand Army of the Republic, an elite clone trooper unit.
