He is one of the seismologists who discover the underground lake in Lake Victoria. He has to witness the death of his two colleagues, but manages to capture one of the prehistoric piranhas together with the sheriff. He brings the piranha to the marine biologist Carl Goodman and, following the recommendation to evacuate the lake on the spot, helps the sherriff and also personally helps to save as many tourists as possible. He also helps the sheriff in saving her family, but is later eaten by an adult piranha.
