Podships were a Rakata technology designed during the final years of the Infinite Empire with the intent to expand it massively. They combined a single-use hyperdrive with terraforming equipment and passenger space, so that slave species could be sent to candidate planets and then later conquered when they had grown strong enough to yield a signature in the Force.
