The Rose was Henry Radcliffe's ship. It was named generically, so Radcliffe would avoid angering either side of the War of the Roses. The Rose also had the distinction of being the first ship built from native Atlantean materials. Fifteen years after the establishment of New Hastings, Radcliffe sailed the Rose around Atlantis, becoming the person to visit Avalon Bay on the continent's west coast.
