The United Rebel Front was a loose affiliation of several Insurrectionist movements that fought during Operation: TREBUCHET, and the Human-Covenant War. During Humanity's war with the Covenant, the United Rebel Front was severely depleted and by 2553, had under 10,000 troopers spread throughout the galaxy within its ranks; recruitment was slow as solidarity with the rest of Humanity was at an all time high. In 2555, following the conclusion of the Kafkian Uprising, the United Earth Government offered an amnesty to all members of the URF if they gave up violence and embraced politics. It was an offer most of the highest ranking officers took, and formed the Colonial Freedom Party in November 2555.
