George Malpas (1926 - 26th February 2001) was born in Warrington, England. He was an actor, best known for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Tom Grattan's War and Young Sherlock Holmes. George played two roles in Emmerdale, the first being recurring character Barney (Postman) who was Beckindale's local postman in the 1970s and returning as Arthur Prendagast in 1994.
