Richard de Clare is a Hero found in the Scenario Editor in Age of Empires II HD: The African Kingdoms. He is based on a Welsh-Norman lord notable for his leading role in the Norman invasion of Ireland. Richard de Clare is represented by an Light Cavalry but with better stats, with the exception of lower pierce armor. Like other cavalry units, Richard de Clare is affected by all upgrades that affect cavalry as well as any civilization bonuses that affect them. Although Richard de Clare possesses attributes of Light Cavalry, his stats show characteristics more similar to that of Heavy Cavalry.
