Esthalla was a captain and cohort commander in Urusander's Legion. She was married to Silann, a fellow captain in the Legion. Esthalla and her husband had a testy relationship, often having venomous arguments in the presence of their soldiers. Among other issues, each blamed the other for their son, Endest Silann, joining the priestly orders at Kharkanas rather than choosing a role more supportive of their ambitions. She was aroused by the savagery of killing. After a battle she would make fierce love to Sillann in a manner that skirted on the edge of pain.
