The 2001 South Carolina 200 was a Busch Series event held at Darlington Raceway on September 1, 2001. Jeff Burton won the event, holding off Elton Sawyer. However, it was a sober victory. Steve Park was seriously injured after an axle broke on his car during caution. He was T-Boned by a passing Larry Foyt. Park would not return to competition for half a year and never truly recovered. Kevin Harvick left the event with a 311-point championship lead.
