Gar Selassie is a Abyssinian monastery located in Ensaro, a district of Shewa Province. The monastery is located north east of the famed Debre Libanos monastery (the premier monastery in Nea Abyssinia) and is a eight hour walk from Debre Libanos. The monastery was founded by the holy monk, Iyasu of Gar Selassie. The monastery contains several hundred manuscripts, preserved in the monastic library. The monastery's underground church of Mekane Paraqlitos Amlakena. The monastery's local church school educates young boys.
