His mother was out walking one afternoon and was attacked by a group of hungry, irritated iriaz, and killed. Jerek went looking for her and found her body torn apart. This angered him and he started, without intention, to kill the iriaz by the use of electricity. After killing the iriaz, his power scared him so much that he ran off and stayed hidden in the fields for over a week.
