During the Siege of Capustan, the house was set upon by a mob of Scalandi and a company of Urdomen who entered the city during the fighting at the North Gate. Gruntle pursued the Pannions from the gate with an ad hoc militia of sixty. The Scalandi were killed or disabled by Capanthall defenders using the house's boiling water traps. Gruntle's militia eliminated the Urdomen at great cost to their own numbers. The house served as a rallying point for the defenders of the city's north wall.
