Myopia, also called near-sightedness or short-sightedness, is when one cannot see objects far away in detail. Glasses can correct myoia. Myopia, near-sightedness or short-sightedness are also terms used metaphorically to refer to people who get into a problem situation without considering the long term. George W. Bush getting into Iraq without an exit strategy was an example of political myopia.
