Matthew Gontz is a former Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps who took part in the mission in Afghanistan alongside former First Lt. John Mayne and Major Gordon Holcomb. After being honorably discharged, Gontz went through a divorce and a series of jobs before finding work as a cab driver. NCIS later interviewed him in regards to Mayne's death.
