Lennon lived with Mimi and her husband George Smith for most of his childhood. He remained close to her throughout his life, although Mimi was highly dismissive of Lennon's girlfriends and wives. The Beatles' success later enabled Lennon to buy her a bungalow in Poole, Dorset, where she lived until her death in 1991.
