Born near Keldabe, Mandalore to Szess Trant'tu and Meera Rogge at the Prosstang Estate in 50 BBY, Tan'ek was one of five children. Between 300 and 200 BBY, the Trant'tu had been titled land a few kilometers distant from the Prosstang Estate, where they would raise crops and become known as one of the most productive farming families in the . Tan'ek sought adventure from his early years, and heard of the exploits of the Clan Chieftain's son, Ferrigo Prosstang and his cousin, Jannigo Prosstang.
