The Drunk was in the reception of Weatherfield Police Station when Tyrone Dobbs called there to apologise to Kirsty Soames for suspecting her of having an affair. The man was eager to leave and stood at the counter when Tyrone and Kirsty were talking, asking if he had permission to go. Kirsty snapped "no" at him and he was therefore present, in his groggy state, when Tyrone got down on one knee and proposed to her. Another officer later escorted him from the premises.
