Food product information published in the form of food product labels is essential to making informed purchase and recipe decisions by consumers. It is often depended upon in absence of other more reliable information resources to manage budgets and diet plans and to differentiate one food product from another. Nutrition data is required by law to be printed on food products. Identification, pricing and nutrition data are not required to be in machine readable form.
