Sue Jackson and her husband Colin were neighbours of Gail and Brian Tilsley in Buxton Close in 1981. The couples became friendly and on one Bank Holiday Monday Sue and Colin persuaded the Tilsleys to abandon their dinner plans and have a picnic with them. Sue and Brian didn't mind Colin trying to chat Gail up - they both it a bit of harmless fun - but unbeknown to Sue Colin paid Gail a visit later that evening, once Brian had gone to work, and made a play for her. Gail slapped Colin and eventually told Brian, but they both agreed to keep the truth from Sue. To avoid any complications, the Tilsleys turned down Sue's idea of the couples going on a caravan weekend together and they had little to do with each other after that.
