The Elder Civilizations was the name given to a group of races that descended from the multispecies culture of Center One which existed twenty thousand Galactic Cycles ago. Despite the destruction of that region of space by a supernova, the Travellers and Exiles managed to survive by fleeing through a Wormhole which deposited the groups at various points across the galaxy.
