The story is told from the perspective of Talla, daughter of Shran. As a half-Andorian and half-Aenar, Talla faces prejudice on her home world. In, 2177, Shran goes into hiding briefly, on Malcolm Reed's ship, when Talla brags that her father still has the Teneebian Amethyst.
