Oil appears in the game as a black puddle shooting out black circles. It can appear in any terrain, including water. Oil provides production and commerce to the city that works it. It is required for the production of many of the late-game military units. Civilizations with cities where the Standard Ethanol corporation is present automatically receive one of this resource.
