Daniel Cressy was the executive officer aboard the USS Remembrance from after the end of the Great War to, and including, the Second Great War until the ship was sunk in 1941. Cressy was an astute officer, and realized that Sam Carsten, although a mustang, had solid political instincts and keen insights into the future of the U.S. Navy, and encouraged him to seek his own command.
