Prior to her work in the makeup department, Wood portrayed a regular background character, Ensign Bailey, on several seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation. On at least two call sheets she was listed under her full name, Natalie Winwood. Wood was scheduled to appear in the fourth season episodes "The Nth Degree" and "In Theory" as Worf's relief tactical officer but was not seen on screen although Worf made a nod into the direction and in "Qpid" in scenes on the bridge. She was also scheduled to be in the shuttle scene in the fifth season episode "Darmok" and at the tactical station in the episode "Ensign Ro" but was replaced by Cameron. She was also replaced at the tactical station in the episodes "Silicon Avatar" , "Unification II" , and "New Ground" .
