The Valatie Fire Department is the second oldest volunteer fire department in Columbia County, New York. The Department traces its root back to 1837, when then first volunteer fire company was founded in the mill hamlet of Valatie. In 1856 when the Village of Valatie was incorporated the fire company became the Valatie Fire Company.
