Dragonless is a term used to refer to a former dragonrider who survived the death of his or her dragon. Many dragonless individuals suicide, and those who survive are left with a great emptiness inside. Because of the intensity of the telepathic bond between a dragon and his or her rider, the loss is harder to bear than even the loss of a child or lover or parent. The dragonless never really fully recover from their loss.
