Michael Engelking was a Federation Starfleet officer on active duty in at least the 2260s. He was chief helmsman, with the rank of lieutenant, of the USS Avenger, under Captain Melissa Sturdevant, in the 2260s. (Star Trek: Avenger: "Reaching Taurus") Engelking volunteered to pilot one of the rescue shuttles at Yogyakarta Baru, but Captain Sturdevant felt his skills were needed at the Avenger's helm.
