Aratan (Q.High Man") was the second of King Isildur's four sons. He served in the army of the Last Alliance of Elves and Men during the war that concluded the Second Age (S.A. 3434-41), although he did not enter Mordor after the Battle of Dagorlad. Instead, he and his brother Ciryon went south to command the garrison at Minas Ithil. He later died fighting Orcs alongside his father during the Battle of Gladden Fields in T.A.2.
