In 2367, she was commissioned as a replacement for the USS Chekov (NCC-57302), which was lost at the Battle of Wolf 359. The new Chekov was placed under the command of Captain Morgan Korsmo. Commander Elizabeth Shelby also came aboard the Chekov as first officer. Since the Chekov was not shown, it is impossible to be sure how to depict the ship's external appearance. For the purposes of this wiki, a standard Excelsior-class schematic and image are shown, even though Chekov might have belonged to a different subclass and/or another configuration.
