The Marin County Starfleet Yards are Federation shipyards, located in the Sol sector, with ground offices in Marin County, near San Francisco, on Earth. In an alternate timeline, the USS Pasteur was constructed at these yards, by the Skywalker division. This was a tribute to Industrial Light & Magic the special effects company which was located at the Skywalker Ranch in Marin County, California. They had created a large portion of the special effects used on Star Trek: The Next Generation.
