Romney Marsh is a wetland area in the counties of Kent and East Sussex in the south-east of England. Covering 100 square miles, is flat and low-lying, with parts below sea-level. Over the past 800 years, large areas of the marsh have been reclaimed from the sea for agriculture and grazing land and several habitations have been built, the largest of which is the town of Rye with a population of 9,000 people.
