Thale is one of two princesses of Alar in The Streets Of Alar (the other is unnamed). She orders Watch-Captain Destries and the Baron De Calvadorr to investigate the murder of Mareza Ladjeff. By the events of Dark Stars & Steam, she is Queen of Alar and orders Lady Constance de Calvadorr to investigate an attack on the city's Marigny Metalworks. Her relationship with the Thale of the play is unclear.
