Philanthropy is an anti-proliferation group started by Nastasha Romanenko and Otacon. In Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Solid Snake was tasked to find and snap photos of the new Metal Gear held by the United States Marines in a cargo vessel Discovery. Philanthropy again appeared during the Big Shell Incident, with the help of Raiden. They uncovered the plans by Solidus Snake and Revolver Ocelot. In Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, it appears the Philanthropy could have been dissolved or unactive for the time being. Solid Snake seems that he is no longer with the group as he was hired on by Colonel Campbell. It is unknown whether Otacon still is a member of Philanthropy.
